.280AI barrel and twist

muleman69

USMC -1st marine Div. RVN
My new build is a .280AI ultra lite rifle and would like to get some opinions on Barrels and twist? Planning on shooting the Barnes 145 LRX as they have been a great bullet for me so far. Any and all advice would be appreciated. Thinking of a Pacnor barrel and Tuebor action?

I shot the 145 and 150 Barnes in a 7 STW with a 10 twist. They worked fine but I would go with the recommended 9-twist just to be safe and make sure I got the most out of the BC.

I have 2, 1 with 10tw Lilia and one w/ 8.5tw Brux. I planned to shoot 145 lrx in 10tw but have been unable to get the accuracy I want with 145s. However with 140 ttsx it will shoot with my benchrest rifles, incredibly accurate. I had hoped to shoot the 168 lrx in the 8.5tw, again disappointed. I think I'll give the 160s a shot. I've been shooting long range bench rest for several years now and do know a thing or two about tuning a load to a rifle. Ymmv.

I tried some 168lrx's in my 9.25 twist 280Ai and they all went through one jagged hole but they were going three the target sideways
Keyholeing o_O
I want to try a 8-8.5
For the 168's
But I love the 140ttsx and the 145lrx's
Sorry no help here
