.280 Remington

Can someone tell me what realistic velocity could be achieved with a .280 Remington shooting a 150gr bullet in a 23” Krieger barrel?

thank you

You should be able to get close to 3,000 fps with 150 grain bullets. I have three .280 Remingtons. One is a custom Remington M700 with a 24" Shilen barrel and a fairly long throat, allowing perhaps a little extra powder capacity). I am getting close to 3,100 fps with 140 grain bullets, slightly less than 3,000 fps with 150 grain bullets, and right at 2,900 with 160 grain bullets with no pressure signs at all and good brass life.

In my factory Remington M700 CDL with 24" barrel. I'm getting about 3,060 - 3,080 fps with 140 grain bullets and about 2,880 fps with 160 grain bullets. I have not shot 150 grain bullets in this particular rifle yet.

Try H4831 powder with 150 grain bullets.

The Shilen barrel is 9" twist. The factory barrels are 10" twist. All handle 160 grain Nosler Accubond and Partitions just fine. The Shilen barrel shoots 162 grain A-Maxs pretty well. I haven't shot any bullets heavier than 162 grains in any of my .280s.
