280 AI & Modified cases for Hornady/Stoney pt. tool

Gentlemen:
Does anyone have an opinion as to whether or not one can use the 280 Remington "modified case" for the Hornaday/Stoneypoint OAL tool to get bullet seating depth with the 280AI round? I can't seem to find anyone that sells a modified 280AI case and I have neither the time, skills,or equipment to make one! LOL
I appreciate any thoughts or direction you may have to offer.
Take care.

Thanks, Mike. I found out Hornady will make me one for $15.00. Might just go that route and have it custom to my chamber. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I appreciate it.
Take care.

I'd make a dummy round from a fired case then use the stoney to get a measurement. I learned a very valuable lesson when using the stoney. The referance case will give you false measurements if it does not fit the chamber exactly. I'm still pulling the last of some 450rds that were fire formed in my 243AI during a pd trip. All the cases were trashed on the first firing. I reloaded them and fired about 50 pcs a second time when I noticed a crack forming around the case head. Turns out that the chamber was cut about .012" long and what I though was .006" jammed was about -.006" causing case head seperation. No failures but enough thinning that its not worth taking a chance. Make a dummy round from a fired case or tap your own case. The dummy will give a more accurate reading.

That's exactly what I'm gonna do! First ever custom and I don't want to have "KaBOOM! I spend $15 on shot of JD! It'll be worth it to have one custom made to my chamber. Thanks for the insight. Sorry to hear about the F'up but glad you and the gun are ok.
