280 ackley repeater

How well does the 280 ackley cartridge funtion as a repeater from a factory Remington 700 magazine?
Are there common problems?
Are there alterations needed?

R. W.Hart of Nescopeck pa, built 2 for my son and i, both functions perfectly. they were on trued 700bdls and if he did anything to the follower, i couldnot tell.

My Mule Deer rifle is a 280AI on a Remington 721 ( pre 700) It feeds just fine from the magazine. No issues no corrections needed, it was a 270 before I got ahold of it.

No problems with a R700 in 30-06 Ackley with the standard 30-06 follower.

Mine is built on a 700 action with no modifications, and it feeds just fine from a standard BDL configuration. Hope this helps.

This is kinda off-the-wall, but I'm looking to build a long action repeater in 280 AI- with either a LA M700 or custom clone action - that would use AI magazines for 300 WM. Anyone know whether the lips of the AI mags can be formed to handle the smaller dia. 280 AI case?

I'm currently using the same 300 WM AI magazines in BO M5 BM in a LA M700 chambered for a straight 284, but the 284's body dia is very similar to the 300 WM, so I've not had to modify the feed lips to get it to work well. I'd really like to be able to use these magazines in LA rifles in both 6.5x55 AI & 280 AI.
