280 Ackley Improved

I am having one of my hunting rifles re-chembered into a 280 Ackley and was wondering if anyone has any experience reloading with this caliber? I am thinking about shooting 160gr Sierra Gameking bullets and I already have the Norma brass, but would welcome any advice on powders and charges or other bullet combinations.

Thanks,
Dan

Hi i would start with H4831SC abd H1000 they will give you good velocity with lower pressures and longer barrel life than using faster powders. start with the max load of each in a standard 280 to fireform and then work up a load from there that is safe in your rifle. The 160gr Game Kings are an awsome projectile you will have a nice rifle combination there.

H4831sc and RL22 were tops in mine,..H1000 will also get the 162gr a-max humpin as well. Great chambering,..easy to find a sweet spot.:D
