280 ack hunting loads

Just finished building a friend a nice Tikka 280 ackley. he is starting his venture with breaking it in with factory 162 hornady ammo for obtaining brass, then hoping to work up some 180gr. eldm loads this is a primary truck gun, not a lightweight m40 contour 26" and will have a suppressor on it most of the time, looking for any good powder choices and what kind of speeds can we expect? thanks for any info

RL26 is Magic in the 280 AI . 60 gr range with a 160-162

Wow that is a heavy bullet for an Ackley. If your twist isn't 1in7 forget it mine shot 1/2 inch or better at 100 with up to 160 ish bullets and h4831 sc. 140 ish bullets accubond or the like are the way to go. Just my experience. Gun is an encore 24 inch custom shop 1-8 twist.

In my Remington 700 PAC Nor barreled 280 AI I shoot the 168 Berger Hunting VLD. I use 63 grains of Retumbo Nosler brass and CCIBR2 primers. I get excellent performance and accuracy.
