28 nosler

Probably short barrel life with the water case volume of 90g., but should drive the 195's 3000 with out a problem. DG

The 28 Nosler will do anything a 7mm Lapua Mag can do. NO advantage there.

My 338-375 Ruger is even smaller than the Nosler parent case and will do everything a 338 Lapua mag can do. I push 250gr Bergers at 2930 fps in a 26" barrel with 74gr of powder...thats over 10gr LESS powder than the Lapua mag. I can even push the 250s to 3000 fps with an additional grain of powder, but accuracy wasnt there for me. So the 375 Ruger case necked down to 7mm would be another good candidate.

I believe the Lapua Mag case is outdated and overatted with some of the more efficient wildcats out there. Now that the Nosler case is on the market, when they come out with the 33 Nosler, I think the Lapua Mag will become obsolete

Sometimes burning a ton of powder isnt the answer for speed. Some of the modern chamber designs are much more efficient. I believe the Nosler rounds will also render the Ultra Mag rounds obsolete when they become more popular

I agree. Glad theyre putting em out there. I have a 26nosler in my line right now. Gonna do it in a few weeks. Looks extreme to me but hey im an extreme kinda guy

I really enjoy my low recoiling 6.5's and 6mm's, but sometimes I get an itch to fire a cannon. Thats why the 338-375R and 358 Norma Mag will always be in my inventory :) The 7mm-375R or 28 Nosler is definitely something ive been considering as well because I have a new 7mm Mag that would be a perfect candidate for rechambering.

The 28 Nosler has the same case capacity has the 7 STW BUT in a dimensionally different case (shorter fatter). I don't know if the 338 would be any different than a 340 Weatherby though speed wise.
