.270 win and light bullets

Do any of you guys load light bullets. I have 90 and 110 vmaxes and want to know if you use varget. I have alot of reloading info and just want your opinions. If not what do you use? Thanks

Back in the days when I used my .270 for almost everything, I loaded Speer 100 grain hp's over a large dose of H4831. Very accurate and explosive on varmints!

Travis, the 270 with a Sierra 90g Hp is a great varmint rifle. My favorite load was from 57-59g of AA2700 at 3550 fps shooting tiny groups. Primers do make a difference, I shot fed 210 or 9 1/2. This load makes a real mess out of a chuck or a yote, I'm talking gut rugs! You should expect groups of 1/2" or less out of a sporter rifle, and if you put a muzzle break on the barrel, your groups will be in the 3/8" range.

I can not comment on the 110's.

I used 110gr V-Maxs over 51gr of Varget. 5/8 to3/4 inch three shot groups from a stock sporter 270. Very explosive.

Speaking of that 90 gr Sierra HP. The very worst I have ever seen a deer mangled thru and thru I shot with that bullet at about 50 yds. at max. load according to the Sierra manual loaded with 60.9 gr. of IMR-4350. The bullet was alittle high and shredded the rib cage like nothing I have ever seen before or since. Bill
