.270 load info

building up a new .270win load i am shooting an original stocked 22" bedded browning stainless stalker with a 3x9x40 burris scope at 100 meters.
the load is as follows;
130 grain sierra spitzer gameking
56 grains imr4350
cci 200 primer
trimmed & neck sized speer hornady frontier brass seated .005 off lands and overall length of 3.340

can cover this load with a dime all day long but i can't seem to break the 1/2 inch group mark.any idea's how to improve

Play with the seating depth to see what is best in your rifle. Try a primer change to see what works best. Change brass mfg. Lots of small variables to match to your rifles tastes.

thanks for the idea's!i've tried seating depth and cases so i will give the primer a go.i think when its all said and done my shooting ability may be the biggest factor:,
regards john.........

John,

I doubt that you're the limiting factor at all. Groups that size out of a relatively stock A-Bolt are pretty good I'd think. My Tikka T3 Stainless in .25-06 groups between 1/2" and 3/4" with Matchkings with a 4-16x50 B & L scope. Even with load development it would be good to average 1/2" groups in a rifle like that, not unheard of though.

mattward, you know the more shooters i question about this subject most of them are amazed the gun will even shoot a group like that?looks like i'll have to settle with a good shooter eh?;)
