.264 smk pointed 150 gr

I measured the bearing surface at 0.415". I use a G& of 0.350 and it works well out to 1K. Hope that helps.

Thanks, it helps a lot.
I have two good loads in my 6.5 PRC, 144 Berger at 3070 and the 150 SMK at 3115 and am running dope tables for a 1500 m steel shoot. The berger groups 0.25 and the sierra 0.58. I will probably go with the Bergers.
Thanks again.

Sounds like fun. Good luck. I could never get rid of the 10% to 20% random flyers with the 150s so I moved on. The 80% to 90% shot very tiny groups, but there was that pesky one that would be a head scratcher. I settled on the Berger 156s for my 6.5 SAUM.

That is why I like the Berger 144s. I shot a few loads with the 156s and then couldn't get anymore so I went with what I could get and have a lot of data on the 144s. I have anothe node at 2985 but it is slower and groups about 0.30, just a tad higher than the 3070 load.
What velocity and grouping are you getting with the 156s in the SAUM? The Berger factory load is 2958 im my rifle but I have only shot enough to check velocity since they are loaded to a short overall length and I can load them a lot longer in my throat. My barrel is a 7,5 tw 5r Bartlein so it will shoot them.
Thanks
Bill

I bought 3,000 156s when you could get them. I am getting 1/4 moa at 3200 fps out of my SAUM. However, that is with N570. Its a HOT load and a hot powder. Ok for hunting but not for match shooting.

I also shoot the 156s out of my 6.5CM and they run 2820 with compressed load of H4831sc out of a 30-inch barrel. That is a one-hole load and I use it for LR steel as my backup rifle.

I didnt have any luck getting the 153.5 Bergers to shoot in anyhting. My buddy did out of his PRC though. They have a super BC so if you have a rifle that lies them they are a great choice.

Interesting that you can use N570 in your case. I would have thought you would have a compressed load. I can get higher velocities with RL26 in my rifle but it also burns hot so I have settled on H1000. I shot some 0.5" three shot grps at 200 yds but it was with H1000 and I didn't check velocity because it was early and I only had a box of 156s
Could never get more but I know it is an accurate bullet.
Thanks for your insights.
