260AI

In the process on building a 260improved and have a couple of questions. Where can I find a good seating die? Some pet loads for the 142gr sierra mk would also be a help.....thanks

Been using the Lee 260 seater with my 6.5 Mystic but have now switched to a Forster BR seater.

My case is very similar to a 260AI so it should work for you too.

I am shooting 139gr lapua and I believe the ogive is similar in shape to the MK's.

I'm shooting a 260 AI...had Lee build me a 2 pc collet set for $50...have since bought a Redding std FL die..yes you will need a FL die...also bought a Forster BR seater in 6.5x284....this will seat 260 AI cases all day long...get a jug of RE19 for your AI cases & 140-142 gr pills...45-46 grs w/moly bullets...heres a target using the cheap Lee seater w/Nosler 140 Comps..scope bottomed out prints about +4" @ 100 yds......

never thought of using a 6.5x284 die just due to shoulder difference. I didnt realize it would work....I know i need a fl die and have read that redding makes a body die in 260ai but I havent found one as of now......Just curious have you checked runout with either the lee die or the 6.5x284 die?

Just ordered a full length sizer and seater die from CH4D. Price was reasonable and he had them in stock so I jumped on it. Will probably have customs made at a later time but this will work for now. Now i just need some loads to work off of....Thanks for the replys

300rumfan, let me know how you end up likeing the ch4D dies i had a bad expierience with them about 10 years ago. since they are still in bussiness mabe they got it together now. The main question I have is do the necks come out concentric after being sized?______treeman

Sure thing treeman, im curious myself. I would have gone the option many of you stated about having the 260 die reamed with the chamber reamer but its a borrowed reamer and I hate to use it too much. I will eventually send cases to Neil Jones and have a set made but I hope these will do for now.

I use a standard Forster 308 to seat 308AI and 308x444AI. A standard 7-08 to seat 7-08AI. So I would think the standard 260 would work for the AI. If the shoulder should bump, use a couple of washers for shims. That's what I do for the 308x444.

Fire formed 20 cases and got to use the ch-4d dies. So far just the full length resizer but the operation was very smooth and neck runout appears to be less than one thousandth. Thats checked on the middle of the neck line with a sinclair concentricity gauge. So far very pleased will update and let you know what the final runout is with the bullet seated.
