260AI barrel life?

Building my 260AI and I understand that typical barrel life for accurate shot placement is around 1500 or so, but how much more to maintain enough accuracy for long range steel? Rifle is single shot so I can seat longer and not worry about feeding issues. Think 2500 or so is unreasonable? Barrel is a CBI 260AI Match chamber, 8 twist, 26".

I had a CBI 28" straight taper in 260ai and I put close to if not 4000 rounds through. 16lbs of MR2000 few pounds of 4831sc,few pounds of H4350 and some others. I just chambered a new Krieger for it to replace it. It done ok on steel for quite some time but coppered something terrible the last 1000 rounds or so. I'd say keep the heat down in it and it'll last a while. I ran 140 amax and 95vmax mostly.

No, I will be sitting at my loading bench mindlessly processing hundreds of cases until it gets too hot, probably about 10am from the looks of it. I will be back up there again this summer though!

Much appreciated, seems about what I was thinking for banging steel. Was also considering buying a lot of brass, bullets, primers and a couple kegs of powder for it, when it's out swap the barrel.
