260 remington twist rate

I want to do up a 260 remington on a stevens 200 action for my windy day groundhog gun, and want to shoot the 95 grain v-max, shots will probally only be out to 500 yards max, Midway has 1-8 twist shilin barrels for the savages, will the 1-8 shoot the 95 grain v-max good, or do i need a slower twist,
thanks.

The thing you have to watch in twist rate is that you velosity on the high end may distort the bullet with a fast twist . i shoot 6.5 with 120 bergers and run 2800 fps which relatively slow . however when building on 6.5 with 95 gr. 1-10 twist would be the better way to go because of the velosity . 1-9 seems to be the standard twist for the cal. I'm running an 8 twist 22" Rock, 100 grain Ballistic Tips at 3375. I'd say go for it.
