.260 Remington or 6.5mm Creedmoor...

Both are pretty darn good. I think it'd be a hard argument for either being "better".

I think the 260 has a tish more capacity than the Creed but the Creed might be a hair more accurate.

I know the 6.5 Creedmore is dynamite on Pronghorns with the 120 Amax!

I don't shoot either, but have researched both quite a bit as I was looking at those two and a 6.5 x 47. I learned that the 260 and Creedmoor are about as close in performance as one can get. I personally would look at brass availability and costs given how equal they are. See below for a good write-up.

I personally like the 6.5x47, preferring the small rifle primer and reputed ability to run long bullets without running into mag length issues. Down on performance a bit compared to the other two, but close enough for me.

I have a Creed and am more than happy with it. Took it over a .260 because of the case design. No problems with Hornady brass. Would rebarrel to another Creed in a heart beat. Mine is a Surgeon built bolt gun with a Krieger barrel. I hit the lands well before I run out of mag length.

Setting aside the brass discussion, I think the Creedmoor is a better designed case all around with equivalent velocity. It fits into a magazine better and has case dimensions better suited for an "accuracy" cartridge.

I spent a fair amount of time and research in trying to decide between 260, 6.5 Creedmore and 6.5 x 47. There were advantages to each and I ended up going with the 6.5 x 47 for the following reasons. Although the others had some of the following features the 6.5 x 47 was the only one that had all

Lapua brass....more expensive but I have almost unlimited loadings in other calibers. Ends up being less expensive

30 degree shoulder ...less streching and therefore less trimming and annealing. Also like inherent accuracy of other 30 degree cartridges I have (6BR)

Long neck to give more seating depth flexibility

Small primer

I have excellent results with my GAP Crusader 6.5 x 47 but if the truth be told it is no better than the 260s and Creedmoores that I shoot against in 600 and 800 yard matches here in Charleston. May be the shooter

I am a hunter , not a competitive shooter but chose a .260 for a few simple reasons. Cheap brass( any .308,.243,7mm08) will work, Excellent brass( Lapua) and even regular Remington .260 brass works fine for my needs. Gun will shoot plenty accurate (.3MOA Regularly) with healthy doses of Reloder 17 and a 130 gr. Berger and is fast as most 6.5-284s so I have no complaints. Magazine issues are not a problem either as I used an old long action 700 to build it.

Depends on what you are trying to do. The Creedmoor is NOT as fast as a comparibly loaded 260. The 6.5 Creed's big advantage , IMHO, is that you have more seating flexibility with the shorter case in a standard mag box. That's about it.

The Creedmoor is probably an advanatage in an AR platform but not so much in a bolt gun. Way easier to find ammo and brass for the 260.

I am currently using a 260AI and love it. It is only a little behind my 6.5-284 in velocity. I use it differently but it is still fun. Was shooting it at 550 yards this morning just using the B&C reticle and it was easy to hit with.

Brass is easy to come by in the 260. With Lapua making it the 260 is completely legit now. I could never get RP brass to shoot very well so have been making my own for years. Now I can just load Lapua and go.

The 6.5 is shorter case and works in the magazine without seating most bullets into the donut area.

Might suggest also looking at the 6.5 SLR as seen on 6mmar.com. if the Creed interests you. It seems to me to have all of the good stuff of the Creed and about 2 more grains of powder capacity. JMHO
Best Wishes
