260 Remington 130 AR Hybrid Load Data

This has probably been beaten to death, but I’m going to ask it. Any good load data for a 260 Rem using 130 AR Hybrids? Going to try the usual suspect...4350, but curious if anyone has had any success with RL26 and a 130?

Start at 41gr and work up to be safe.
42.3 gr h4350
Berger 130 ar hybrid
Cci200
Nosler brass
2.80 coal
Rem 700 vtr....
But not for long!
Painting hs precision stock today, new Krieger barrel be here Tuesday.

I couldn't get H4350 to work very well in my .260s; they have all preferred H4831SC. In my experience, it gave about ~100FPS slower velocity, but much better accuracy.

This data below is all out of a 26" bart, using the 130 Hybrid AR, Lapua Brass, and CCI LR primers:
41GR - H4350 - 2811 FPS
42GR - H4350 - 2888 FPS
42.5GR - H4350 - 2907 FPS
42.8GR - H4350 - 2924 FPS
43.1GR - H4350 - 2950 FPS
43.4GR - H4350 - 2976 FPS
43.7GR - H4350 - 3000 FPS

I do hear a lot of good things about RL26; supposedly very good velocities out of .260s with the heavies.

I loaded all my 260 long because I shot F-Class single load. My load for 130 hybrid was 43.5gn of H4350 with Lapua brass and BR-2 primers loaded at 2.900. I started out at 44 but it was a little to hot when it got hot so I backed down to 43.5 After that never blew a primer. Was getting 2975 for velocity.

When I was shooting 260 my 130 hybrid load was 43.5 H4350 at 2.900 COL in Lapua cases with BR-2 primers. In a 30 inch barrel was getting 2975. I shot F-Class so all my loads were crafted as single load where length didn't matter.

I don’t shoot the 130’s in my 260 since I found it’s more accurate with the 140 gr weight bullets at longer ranges. However, like Mike said I get better accuracy using H-4831sc.

I also found my rifle (30” F Class) gets the best accuracy at around 2750-2800 FPS. Faster just opens groups up.

I tried superformance and it was not the one, RL17 shot a little better. I finally gave up on 130AR Bergers and got real good groups with Nosler 123 custom comp.

Thanks all for the input. This is a Savage Predator that I bought for my 11 year old son for Christmas. I was hoping to keep it at 130 gr pills till he got a little older and used to the recoil.

Right on! Good luck with that new Kreiger....can’t go wrong there!
Start at 41gr and work up to be safe.
42.3 gr h4350
Berger 130 ar hybrid
Cci200
Nosler brass
2.80 coal
Rem 700 vtr....
But not for long!

I’ve read a lot of posts about people shooting the 140’s and up with good success, so was just curious how the 130’s fair. I have a 6.5x284 that seems to shoot 26 and 130s very well. I thought if I could get the velocity maybe give it a run. But like you, I’d much rather it shoot more consistently than chase 100 fps

There are tons of posts about folks shooting the 140 class bullets in .260s; lots of guys seem to have luck with the combo you're talking about (really any good 140-147 and ~42.5gr of H4350 seem to be 'the load'), it just never worked well for me (for whatever reason).

I just had good luck with the 130s personally, and if you can push them fast enough, they're very close in performance to the 140s.

I only used the 130 at 600 and below. That gave me good velocity and less wind deflection but at 1000 I was shooting the 140 hybrid. It was very accurate and repeatable. I was getting 2875 out of a 30 inch McGowen 1:8 barrel with 42.5 gn of H4350. Maybe it was just my setup but I never could get h4381 to work in a 260.
