260 Rem, what Brass and Why.

Like it says. Hopefully by the end of this year I will have my 260rem put together and I am one that likes to keep it simple at the reloading bench and spend more time "working" on my targets than on my brass. Now don't get me wrong if and when I get to shoot F-class I will be playing with my brass alot more. But for tactical matches and Hunting and only being able to load a little a day or a lot on a weekend what brass is best. I know Remington make it and I know Lapua make .243 that everyone is necking up and turning the donuts out which isn't that much more work for The best brass, but what else have you guy/gals been doing to get your brass?

Nosler puts out 260 brass completely prepped...Sized, trimmed, deburred flash holes, chamfered mouth in and out...Every bit as good as Lapua...Loads up at 291 neck..PTG will grind a AI reamer with 293 neck...

I use 308 Lapua brass. One pass through a 7-08 FL die, and once again through a 260 FL die. Chamber cast to find my neck dimension, and turn the necks to fit. Anneal, and on to load work.

Over the last 10 years I've went through a 1000 pieces of Rem. brass, necked up 300 pieces of .243 Lapua. My favorite method is to use a standard full length .260 Rem. sizer die and neck down .308 brass. There isn't a need to use an intermediate step. Lapua is the best but Win. brass isn't to bad. You'll have fewer issues with donuts with this method.

Realize there are slight differences in case length between 243, 260, 7mm/08, and 308 so in my factory rifles, I use 7mm/08 brass. Necking it down allows the thicker necks to take up some of the slop in the factory chamber and being able to trim the brass to the proper length. 308 brass comes up just a little short for the 260 but you won't have to trim the brass for quite a while. If it's a factory rifle necking up 243 brass thins the necks out too much.

i first tried rem brass for my 260. at medum pressure (36.5gr or n-150) my primer pockets got so loose they had to be scrapped.

i went to nosler brass and can run alot hotter loads and my brass is still fine
