.260 Rem dying out?

Is the .260 dying out? It seemed a fairly popular choice for match rifles only a few years ago - but I don't see it often or hear of it much anymore. Don't believe it ever was a big hit as a hunting cartridge either. It always seemed like a nice, easy to use cartridge though. Was it just not enough?

Maybe it's more popular than I think at this point?

It's never been a success as a factory chambering, but it has a big following as a custom chambering and it's just as well as it avoids all kinds of quick judgments based on disappointing experiences with factory lemons,just imagine how the 6BR cartridge would have fared in the general public opinion with posts like "6BR sucks! My Norinco rifle cannot group better than 10" at 300yards!").
Seriously, I don't see it as dying, I'm even impressed it still going strong and well in a country that left the 256 Newton,the best 6.5 cartridge IMMO), the .264 Win Mag, the 6.5 Rem Mag die a slow death, never gave an official status to the 6,5-06 and the 6.5-284,we let Brenneke and Norma do it for us) and took a century to rediscover The 6.5 Swede.
As factory loaded, the Fed production is really good and Black Hills load it with Lapua's Scenar for GA Arms.
Law enforcement is discovering it as Accuracy Int., Tikka, PGM from France are offering chamberings for this round.
I don't think we even started to hear the last from the .260 Rem...

It's GA Precision that is offering the 260/Lapua combo loaded by Black Hills.

Is the .260 dying out?

Hardly. Behind the 308, I build more 260s than any other rifle, for the tactical/sniper crowd and for silhouette. If you want to hit little things far away without much recoil, it works extremely well. It doesn't hurt that we have the woman's three gun champ here in town using it, either.
