260 Lapua Brass: What Bushing Size are we using?

Evening Folks,

The title says it all: For 260 Rem folks, I'm wondering what you are using for a Redding Bushing size for your prized Lapua brass? I've been hearing .292 to .293 works best.

thanks,
Jason

Jason,
Measure a loaded round and then subtract the amount of neck tension you need (.001, .002, .003, .010, you get the point) and that will be your bushing size. I'm a target shooter so I run .001-.0015 but if I were hunting, feeding from a magazine, or loading for an AR I would run more neck tension. Brian Brown.

Another method would be to take the neck wall thickness multiply by 2 add the bullet diameter then subtract the amount of desired neck tension.

Thanks guys - I understand what you're saying, and in most instances that's exactly what I'd do. However, in this case my reloading equipment is 80 miles away at my brother's house and there is no way for me to get that O.D. measurement. In theory if someone has determined the measurement, given the inherent consistency with Lapua brass, the same should apply (+/- 0.001") for all. thanks,
Jason

Just measured two pieces; the one loaded with 140 Amax is .2955" and the one with a 140 Sierra Game king is .2960. They are definitely thicker than any other 260 brass I have used and thicker than my Lapua 6.5-284 brass.

The neck thickness of my new .260 Rem. Lapua brass is .015" and very consistent. Should work well in my .297" chamber neck. Think I'll be using a .292" diameter bushing.

Jerry
