26" 1 in 8 .243Win?

Anyone shooting a 26" 1 in 8 .243Win? I have one in the works and am looking for load data suggestions. Preferably something rather forgiving so I'll know if it's worth getting picky with.

Thanks for looking.

I'm at 45.6 vv 165 fed 210 Berger 108 elite hunters in Sig brass. I've been up to 46.5 but accuracy wasn't there. This is in a Brux 4 groove.
Edit to add..... this is at. 013 OFF lands.

I have a tricked-out .243 Win RPR with a 26" heavy profile, 8-twist, Krieger barrel that has 5R rifling. My favorite powder for the handloaded ammo that I use with this rifle is H4350. Depending on what I intend to shoot at or go hunting for, my handloads are topped off with either 87-grain V-Max or 103-grain ELD-X bullets, all of which are seated at 0.005" off the lands. My optimum powder charges are 40.7 grains (@ 3,243 fps) with the lighter bullets and 39.7 grains (@ 3,076 fps) with the heavier bullets. I also use Lapua brass and Federal No. 210 LR Match primers as part of my ammo recipe. I'm very pleased with the flat shooting and accurate results of this ammo in association with my RPR...it's definitely a "hummer." The only thing that I don't like about the .243 Win caliber is the need for barrel replacement after about 1,250 shots have been fired.

I have a 26.5” Lilja 3G 1-8 .243 Win with 0.119FB. I’m currently loading 105 Hottensteins (similar to a VLD) with 42.5gr RL23 @ 3060fps .005 off the lands. It’s the low node but shoots excellent. I’m using Fed 210s and Lapua brass. RL23 is next to impossible to find, so I’ll be trying N160, N560, or N565 when I run out of RL23.

Why .243 ? I have shot .243 as a match cartridge. Works for about 1000 rounds maybe 1200. A Dasher, BRX, BRDX will give you 3000fps with 105 and last 2000 rds or more. No not a BRA for 3000 fps. Just a thought.

when your barrel burns out rebarrel to 6gt 1-7.2 to 1-7.5 twist you will get more accurate and longer barrel life with a whole lot less powder!

Savage mdl 12 receiver, 26" Krieger 4 grove brl. 107smk,fed 210m. win brass ( neck turned, & annealed).RL-22, Sierra max load is 41.9grs. Mine is a wee bit higher. Please work up slowly and be safe. Vel is 3080 fps with an SD of 3.9 to 4.3, stays supersonic 2200 yds. Shoots .5moa or less, depending on shooter. Like has been said before I'll be lucky to get 1250 rds before rechamber. I tried H4831sc but needed to move the pressure curve farther out. So I went with RL22. Pdog2225

I had a .243 with a 1 in 10 barrel that shot poorly so I decided to rebarrel it. It's not something I'm planning to compete with, so it's doubtful I'll ever burn this barrel up. I have an affinity for the 308 cartridge family. Own a barrel in every typical chambering available. So basically just personal preference in this case.

Edit to add - years ago the first rifle I ever shot a 10 shot group with on 3 different days that all were under 1/2" @100yds was chambered in .243. So I have a soft spot for the cartridge. And it all started a few years before that because the first deer rifle I ever owned was a .308Win.

My wife had a Rossi R243 that I loaded for her.
Hornady 105gr Custom Competition bullets over RL26 worked very well out to 500 yards.
It was advertised as a 1:10.

I have a Remington .243 w/ Rock Creek barrel w/ 1-8.5 twist. I shoot H 4831SC with 75 Grn Vmax's and 87 Grn Vmax's . Itty bitty groups.

My first .243 was in 1965. I just missed the pre-64s by one catalog. Yes, catalog. I ordered it from Sears and I lived in California at the time!

Shot my first buck with one in 1972. My 10 yr old grandson took his first deer last yr with one. I have a soft spot for the 243 and will always have one.
