257WBY ...which big game bullet

I'm leaning toward using 100gr Scirroco BC429, 100gr TTSX BC357 and 110 AccubBond BC415
Not interested in 120 Bergers due to lack of retention.
Which bullet is least accuracy finicky for finding a pet load

I had several zero freebore barrels, 100g, 71-72g of R#22 at 3850 shot bug holes with 100g ballistic tips, 100g Hornady flat base, and 100g ttsx.

100g partitions shot 1/2" at 3850.

Deer flopped, with never a runner.

I would try the Accubond first because they do like to jump a ways in my experience and they are less costly than the others and they hold together good at high velocity. I have heard good things about the 100 TTSX also.

I’ve never tried them, but look into the Hammer bullets. Getting good reviews. It’s a all copper bullet. Few different designs and are suppose to be very easy to develop a load for. Wish they shipped to Canada.

The TTSX does a great job in the .25-'06. It should perform similarly in the .257 Wby. I have not found them particularly finicky as far as tuning goes (more accurate and more forgiving than a Nosler Partition, for example), and their terminal performance is as good as one can expect.

The one bullet that I found held together well, was extremely accurate in both 25-06 and 257Bee is the 110gr Accubond and followed closely behind by the 115gr Partition. I have recovered only a handful of Accubonds, they never lose more than 40% weight in my experience and more often than not they retain in excess of 70% weight.
I have used the 100gr Scirroco in 25-06, wasn’t all that impressed with them, they lost more than 50% weight, while the same weight Speer Hot Cors never lost more than 40% weight every time.

Cheers.

I have killed quite a few deer with my 257 Wby and to be honest, it just doesn’t matter. I have killed with - 100 gr Sierras, 100 gr Ballistic Tip, 100 gr Hornadys, 100 gr Barnes TSX & TTSX, 115 gr Berger.
The deer will die fast !!
Pick one that your rifle likes.

Depends on the type of "big game" you are hunting. Unless you are hunting at long distances, forget about the BC. SD is much more important with a hunting bullet, and the .257 bullets have great SD. If weight retention is your primary concern, the TTSX is going to be hard to beat. If I were still shooting the Weatherby, I would take advantage of the case capacity and hunt with the heavier 115-120 grain bullets.
