257 Whisper Rimmed

Gain twist RKS barrel (16 to 9 i think) with the throat cut to breech seat 120g cast bullets at about 1300 fps.i am trying fired ammo and shooting for a good subsonic load to see what it can do.Rifle is a Ruger single shot.

BTW... its just a 256 Win Mag with a different throat.Screenshot_20220524-214439_Gallery.jpg

Looks like some work has gone into that rifle. Would you mind giving a rundown on the work that has been done and what is left?

I'm guessing it started out as a No. 3? Nice touch with the lever. And the trigger is a custom job too?

Bought used as a strange wildcat that looked like a 22 Jet necked to .25.
It was set up fir breech seating and came with Russ Weber breech seater and priming tool.It came with no dies so when the brass I got with it was failing I decided to rechamber to 256 Win Mag.

I've tried some fixed ammo sub sonic and I've not found the success I've wanted. accuracy seems to be stopping at about 1-1/2 at a 100.Also an 85g gascheck at 1800 fps is the same accuracy wise.

So I went out this am and worked up with WC820 powder and a 120g tapered bullet. and these last two groups at 100 yards show promise.

I also threw on a 12x Unertl just because..
