.257 weatherby mag

I'm thinking of converting my 7mm mag to .257 weatherby mag. I have a 700 remington rifle. Does anyone know where I might find a factory take off barrel at a good price? Thanks. Jeff Camis

You may or may not know this Remington if making two models of the 700 in 257 Weatherby this year. To my knowledge this is a first for them so "take offs" might be hard to find. Three options to consider 1. Sell your 7mm mag and buy a new one from the factory 2. buy a 25/06 take off and have it re chambered 3. buy a good quality barrel blank, Bartlein, Krieger, Hart, Broughton ) and have it chambered by a good smith. I vote for the latter if your budget will allow. I know this is not what you ask for but trying to help out

The .257 Weatherby Magnum was Roy Weatherby’s favorite caliber hunting in North America. I have a Weatherby vanguard in .257 magnum and a Remington 700 CDL SF both of these rifles shoot awesome groups, I also have 2- 7mm Remington magnums but rarely shoot them these days.

They did have a .257 Wea in the past for a while at least.
It's a fun caliber and if you are a MPBR kind of hunter it is hard to beat.
The previous are 1-10, so no heavies in those.
I have a Ruger Number 1 in .257 Wea, great rifle!

I’ve got a 257 in the works now I can’t wait to see how it does with the heavier bullets. It’s a 26” 1/7 so going to play with the 130 gr Hammer Hunter, Badlands Precision 110, Berger 133 and 135s, etc. I love the 101 LRX that should scream out of it just fine

Anyone have experience with the bullets mentioned? Feedback?

Ive shot deer, antelope, coyotes. Pretty wicked hombre. I bought a mark 5 when I was a kid had it for a long time. Mines a 1 in 10 and likes 90 gr. hornadys but Ive shot everything. Free floated the old Weatherby and it groups way better. Doug
