27 hardcore shooters gathered at the Spanish Fort TX range Sunday morning for a 250 yd clay shoot. The contest consisted of 10 shots, 10 mini clays, four rounds for a total of 40 shots for score. The shooters here vary from die hard F-Classers to Short Range Bench resters and every other type of comp shooter you can imagine. You are allowed a 5 minute sight in period before the first relay and no sighters the rest of the day. The temp was around 80 degrees at the start of the first relay and 103 as we drove out the gate at 2 PM. All eyes were on Charlie Abendroth on the final relay as the only competitor with a chance to go 40 for 40. Several people were finished with 39 of 40 so Charlie had a little pressure on that last relay. As the last Clay broke the range erupted in a standing ovation for Charlie and lots of congrats for winning the shoot. A very enjoyable day at the range and the future of shooters here in Texas looks very promising. Charlie Abendroth is a lovely 10 year old young lady.
