25 year old primer price pic

New member, Old Guy! Really enjoying this Forum. Same story: "Been reloading for 150 years...." but I started in the 90s but got "serious" (code word for "thorough") since I retired. But I still don't know much.
I bought these in '97ish and thought you'd get a kick out of the price!

I started in 1968 and remember primer price per 100 at 1.79 in most all stores. I've got a can of H4831 from that time marked $2.79. Also marked "This is WWII Surplus Powder, Shelf Life is Not Guaranteed". I'll guarantee that it still kills mulies out of my 270Win. :)

Ah yes, those WERE the days alrighty!

I could be completely wrong and maybe prices were way cheaper in CA at the time, but I think that price reflects the per 100 price as the tag says "CCI 250 PRIM LRM 1C" the 1C part meaning 100. 1M would be for the brick of 1000.

Pic is of 2 bricks that came with a rifle I bought in Sept of 1997 and likely were bought a year or two earlier. Those tags are per brick price as I bought lots of stuff from both shops

The good ole days either way and rolling your own was wayyyy cheaper than factory ammo

I used to subscribe to the varmint Hunter magazine in the mid through late 1990’s and kept a number of those magazines and recently thumbed through a few of them and saw the prices in the ads. And almost everything was in stock with little to no wait times. Those were the days that’s for sure.

Yup, I've got the entire set of TVHM. Now out of print, it's one mag I like to pull a copy now and then and just re-read the articles. Being into "Geezerhood" now, it's like they're all new!

But considering prices now (!), fond memories of a Colt Woodsman for $125 just make me raise my eyebrows and wonder WTH happened?

PopPop, I tried so hard not to open this thread. I just knew I was going to get my feelings hurt!!!!
You did not let me down on that one.

.Went on a job with the boss one day for an A/C install ,, going up the stairs I spotted a box in the trash with some empty 9mm brass in it. Job foreman said I could have it so I threw it in the truck . When I got home and sorted out there was about 300 empty 9mm, about 300 mixed bullets And
a full brick of small pistol primers and 9 more sleeves of assorted primers. Good day at work.IMG_1144.JPG
