25 Creedmoor

just rebarreled a new 110 Tactical desert Savage into a 25 Creedmoor with a 7 1/2 twist Brux barrel. all the machinist work done by Straight Line Machine " Greg Walstrom" he does super work too. also just started loading for this rifle with lots of barrel cleaning too ! rifle in the early stages of shooting and cleaning shows signs of this rifle will shoot small groups too. anyone out there loading and shooting a 25 Creedmoor now ? i also will sell a brand new 6.5 Creedmoor take off barrel from this rifle when i get permission to post on selling stuff.

Keep everyone updated on your progress, several people seem to be interested in the 25 Creedmoor. I'm gathering parts now just trying to decide on reamer. Can you still seat a 115 berger to the lands with your reamer setup?

115 Berger ? i don`t have any but i would bet the 131 gr. Black Jack bullets are longer,so i would say yes. also i know Brux Barrels are going to make some more 25 caliber - 7 1/2 twist barrels . reason is i have one on order for a 257 Roberts and i should receive this barrel early September. i am also hoping Hornady, Nosler or Barnes bullets start manufacturing some heavier grain and longer 25 caliber bullets ,like around 145 grain ?

I believe hammer bullets makes a 128 gr 25 caliber bullet. These are solid copper and I don’t remember the twist required.

yes your right hammer makes a 128 gr bullet, i wish someone made a 145 gr or larger just for inside of 400 yards accuracy maybe only 300 yards ?

I believe the hunting bullet will be north of teh current 131. spoke with one of the owners a while back and it'll be heavier for sure.

As far as shooting the 25 creedmoor, I use one and it shoots great. Mine is built on a tikka t3 with a 26" M24 contour Lilja 7" twist. My comp load runs 2940fps in starline srp brass. I love it, and it'll shoot inside my 140gr eld load in my 260 all day long with less recoil. With Alpha making 25 creedmoor brass, you're in good shape for some accurate loads.

do you have any ideal what grain bullet Black Jack Bullets is releasing ?

No, but you can visit their website or God forbid, their Facebook page (no I don't support Facebook at all) to see if that information is available. Last I heard it was still under wraps until the release got to be absolute.

Do you have any idea how long this bullet would need to be even in the cup/core version? Given this length, what about the the twist rate? How much faster can we spin a cup/core bullet just because we want it longer and heavier? Why not just move up a caliber to the 6.5mm (0.264"), which is just 0.007" larger in diameter where we already have the 140 class bullets and now the 155 class bullets?

I'm shooting both the 131 Blackjack and the 128 Hammer Hunter in each of 3 cartridges right now. Both are excellent performers and both have harvested game.

i own plenty of different cartridges , we have some winter shoots and sometimes its fun to use a cartridge no one else has and besides i enjoy shooting better groups with a rifle that`s not a 6.5 Creedmoor.

I am using H4350 powder seems to work well, tried H4i4 not that great ? will try Reloader 17 soon, anyone use a different powder that works good ?

Pete, try Reloder 16. It shoots great in my son's 6.5. Biggest problem is getting enough in the case to get near max pressure. In this event, Reloder 17 is better as more can be gotten in the case.
