25 caliber

Ok i was bored, i was neck sizing up 6br to .257 to make a false shoulder for 6brx. So my question has anyone ever thought of
sizing up a 6br to shoot a 25 caliber bullet?
The only 25 cal i ever owned was a 257 weatherby mag... ;D

Back in the early 90's, when the Sako 220 Russian brass (everybody was using this to make PPC cases) dried up, several local BR shooters went to the BR case and some went to the 25 BR.

It might work but, I would stick with the 6. Same bulltet weight for 25 or 6, the 6 wins the BC contest. Bullets are a lot easier to find.

.25 cal isn't so popular because of bullet selection , there are a few that won Br championships though in that caliber,... if a person wanted to build something different in .25 cal. , check out the article on/about the .250 Humdinger in [COW] cartridges of the world 10th or 11th edition

Last year a shooting buddy built a custom F Class rifle in .25/243 Imp. Can`t remember the shoulder angle. He went all out with a clamped action, custom reamer, custom dies, hand-lapped barrel.

He placed in the bottom half of the list in the Ontario Championships. His main comment was lack of bullet selection and "poor" B.C.s with the available bullets. Given that, he still didn`t understand why he placed so poorly.

I would think that a 25 BR set up to shoot the 115 Berger VLD would be a shooter...
Even the 85-100-115 Ballistic tips would work well, at least on critters.....

I took a 6.5 x 47L, necked it down to 6mm, then up to 25 caliber, added a 40* shoulder liked it so much i had a reamer ground for it, and a Browning B78 chambered fro it with an octagon barrel.

The few shooters, that I mentioned earlier, all gave up after the really good 25 jackets dried up. Now that BIB is making some really good 257 bullets, it might be worth looking at.

eddie iam shooting Robinetts heavy jacketed 100 grain bullets on whitetail.
