25-308AI Fire-Forming

Hey All,

New to the forum and fire-forming in general and looking for some advice. I recently picked up a K98 chambered in 25-308AI and am interested in fire-forming cartridges using the cream of wheat method. Can someone give me a recommendation of where to start in terms of powder type, powder load, cream of wheat load? I apologize in advance if this has been asked before on this forum, I can find recommendations for other AI cartridges but nothing specific to the 25-308AI.

I doubt that any specific info is needed - it should be straitforward. But I do wonder whether using 243 or 260 brass is an easier task?. It may be that experimenting with different brand/calibres will produce the best final rounds. I did find, in the distant past making 243AI , that US domestic brass is the easiest to fireform, due to thinner shoulders.

There is also the issue of headspacing the virgin brass - I admit to preferring a false shoulder - easy with 260 brass in your scenario, or jambing the projectile, to ensure good headspace. When forming 6BRX, I use the heavy jam method, with a 95% load and it works for me.
