25-20 wildcats

Friend has a wildcat made on the 25-20 Winchester brass. Need input on what they were named. .224 and .243 chamber .Any info appreciated. Thanks

The .224 is likely a 218 Bee, or Mashburn Bee, which is basically an improved version of the 218.

The case was used for about everything from .17- .32 although the 32-20 was a .310 diameter bullet.

There was a 255 Dean that was basically a 25-20 improved, so looking for 243 dean, Mashburn or Bee or super bee might turn something up.

A trip to the cartridge conversion books later I'm sure will turn something.

Sweet little cartridge. Picked one up in the 70's on a Martini action. cute little thing with a 20" heavy barrel, beautifully inletted stock, a brass Weaver 8X target scope and a trigger like a wish. Came with dies and a boatload of brass (both formed and unformed). Very accurate and loads of fun to shoot. Like so many of us, I played the bonehead and traded it for something faster. Sure wish I had her now!

I shoot a 1960's built Martini made in Art Mashburn's shop in OKC in 218 Mashburn bee. Art traded guns with my father back in the day and was know for his knowledge of vintage Parker doubles.
