243 wssm

Any information on barrel life for a 243 wssm .I want to use 115 gr.bullets .the rife i Will use has a 300wsm bolt face . thanks.

Don't know yet. I sold my 30" 8 twist Kreiger barreled 243 WSSM to a friend. It had 667 rounds (mostly hBN coated 105 AMax) down the tube when I sold it. I would say my friend has at least another 300 rounds thru it and it is still able to hit a groundhog at 1017 yards.
BTW, muzzle velocity is 3250 fps, so it is not being babied.

I get 3400 fps from a 32" barreled 6mm Rem and 105 Hybrids. Except for the barrel turning a funny red color after ~10 rounds, it works really well. [br]
Any cartridge that gets those kind of velocities is not designed for great barrel life. Buy two barrels and have them chambered at the same time. When you have to screw on the second, order another. Repeat as often as needed.

Agreed. I should add that it has never done any kind of rapid fire. The harshest treatment it has received is an informal long range steel competition to 1000 yards that consists of shooting three shots, then waiting for three to five shooters to shoot their three shots, then shooting three more shots. Then waiting at least 10 minutes to repeat. For a total of 36 shots for the day.

Both of mine have chrome lined barrels.
Standard barrel will match regular .243.

True, Terry. Factory barrels (both Winchester & Browning) are chrome lined and 10 twist.
