.243 win

C.O.L. 2.710' Maximum to fit into magazines, but I normally load at 2.600 to 2.687' depending on exact load. H1000 powder has to be TOO SLOW, because Alliant Reloder 25 is TOO SLOW for .243 Winnie Pooh applications. Alliant Reloder 22 is the s-l-o-w-e-s-t powder I ever use because velocity drops-off rapidly with slower-burning powders. MAGTECH 9 1/2 LRM and CCI 250 LRM primers are all I use for potent loads. I prefer Lapua - Hornady - Remington brass, in that order depending on application. Case length trimmed to 2.045' works well. These are my findings, and are in no-way biblical. I learn by trial-and-error, heavy on the error. I shoot often and a lot, and keep tight records. Hodgdon H4350 is nearly always perfect for .243 applications up to 100 grain bullets. H4350 works well with 62 grain Barnes Varmint Grenades. Cliffy

I built 105 amaxes in remington brass,49 grains of retumbo,Savage bolt action with a 22 inch sporter barrel.Grouped tight at 200 yards and at 600 wore that steel plated prairie dog out.Don't remember the length, seated them to fit in the mag well and feed properly. If I come across the length I'll post it.:)

hello, everyone. i have savage 10fxp, 22', in 243 win.
my load is FC cases, Fed 210M, Hornady 105 Amax, with IMR4350 @ 39.6gr. avg vel is 2845 and coal is 2.785'. coal of 2.80' is too long and it touches the lands. i've backed out to 2.785' over all length. it works great. i'm not a speedster or wanted to be one. shot group @ 100yds is in the high 7's and 8's; however, it's great load that consistantly hits iron maiden @ 700m...

H1000 is the most accurate in my 243 with 100gr bullet , I ended up at 47.0gr as well. I think their website will have data on it.

Don’t laugh too hard.

There’s a page here on 6mmbr.com dedicated to 243. It’s where I discovered 87 Vmax /4064 for 243.

Accuracy is excellent in all three rifles tested so far.

I posted on this thread over 10.5 years ago, so here's what I run now. This is my 28" barreled PRS rifle. The first 1200 rounds was --.- grains of H1000 with a Hornaday 105 bthp Match bullet, Tula LRMP. I'm at 1450 rounds now, a little testing with 105 RDF and 105 Amax. My speed dropped off a little by now, brought it back with 7828ssc. Going to run the 105 Amax (hoarding) with 7828ssc till the life is out of the barrel. The IMR powder gives the same accuracy as the H1000. By the way when I started shooting this barrel with the Hornaday 105 bthp Match, my oal was 2.775" with. 013 jump.i have no pressure signs period! I just don't know what some of the book max say, and I'm not wanting any problems on this site.

P.S. screwing my new Competition Match barrel on a new Nucleus action soon. More H1000 and DTAC's to burn.:)
