243 Win Load Data needed for 1 in 12 Twist

I just acquired a 243 Win and need some load info, bullet weight and powder recommendations, 1 in 12 twist with 22" Pac Nor barrel, I see load information all the time but without sharing the barrel twist the info is useless. thanks, this is a great site with a lot of great shooters.

May sound like an obscure question, but is this a varmint or sporter weight barrel you're shooting?? WD

I have used up to 80 grain bullets with good success in my 12 twist with medium fast powders like IMR-4350. I had good results with IMR-4831 and the 70gr Nosler ballistic tip but the 80 gr with IMR-4350 shot better. Here are a bunch of options for the 80gr with a 26" Rem Varmint Taper 12 twist barrel.

Cartridge : .243 Win. Case cap 55.3 gr
Bullet : .243, 80, NOS BalTip 24080
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 2.815 inch or 71.50 mm
Barrel Length : 26.0 inch or 660.4 mm

Predicted Data for Indicated Charges of the Following Powders.

Matching Barrel Time: 1.193 milliseconds

These calculations refer to your specified settings in QuickLOAD 'Cartridge Dimensions' window.
C A U T I O N : any load listed can result in a powder charge that falls below minimum suggested
loads or exceeds maximum suggested loads as presented in current handloading manuals. Understand
that all of the listed powders can be unsuitable for the given combination of cartridge, bullet
and gun. Actual load order can vary, depending upon lot-to-lot powder and component variations.

My only experience with a 1-12 twist was with a 24" barrel in the 243. My findings were that powders in the R-15, WW 748, and Varget burn rate over Rem 9 1/2 primers gave me the best overall accuracy with that twist rate and barrel length. So if you have some powder(s) like that it's where I'd start along with 60-70gr bullets. And the 70gr Nosler ballistic tip would be the first one I'd try. Consult your reloading manual for starting and max loads of course. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. ;)WD

Thanks to everyone that contributed to this information, you have been very helpful, I knew I could count on you.
Thanks, Bob
