243 Win/87gr VMAX.... RL 22 or RL 19?

Looking to crank some 87 Vmaxes through my 243, 1: 9 1/8 twist, 24 inches. I'm thinking '22 and '19 would be good bets, what say you? Liking the thought of being able to throw em through the Uniflow.

I'm running the 87's though my 6br and found my best load was with Varget- which means weighing (it doesnt through thru my harrells very well)

Loading up 600 rounds for a June p-dog trip-thankfully I just got a chargemaster.

Tanner, RL-19 would most likely be the powder to use with 87 V-Max bullets. RL-22 is very good in an 8 twist barrel and with 105-107 weight bullets. Look here also. : http://reloadersnest.com/frontpage.asp?CaliberID=5

Never used either of those and they might work ok. Out of the 243 using a 10 twist barrel and the 87gr Vmax, I've had fine results with R-17, WW760, N550, & 4350. WD

The R-17 was slightly faster than the others. Around 30 or 40 fps faster if I remember correctly. This was through a sporter weight 26" Stainless barrel, and accuracy was very much equal to the other powders.... less than half an inch at 100yds for a 3 shot group. Good stuff for a 243 in my experience with it. WD

IMR 4350 would be my first choice for the 243. Have used it for years with great success with bullet weight from 80 grain to 100 grains.

What he said. ;)
R-19 before R-22 but IMR-4350 simply rocks in my 243's with just about any bullet.
Sometimes the oldies just can't be beat.

Varget & RL19. RL22 is a little slow burning for this combination. You might even try H380. Just my 2 cents.

I've been shooting the 87 VMAXs for six years now. I started with H4350 and haven't looked back. 43.0 gr shoots 1/2 MOA for my AR10T 24". It gets right at 3200 fps. I've got a fur on the wall from a coyote taken at 785 yards, and antelope in the freezer taken at 712. I don't worry about temp swings either.
