243 Win 75 grn V Max the best powder ?

I tried some H 4350 behind a 75 grain v max in a 1 in 10 cooper this weekend and it seemed to be right on the edge of over pressure at 3500 FPS .Is this the Velocity limit for the 243 with this bullet or would another powder be better suited for that weight bullet .

You are probably over pressure and will trash your brass if not with one, in several loads. Lighter bullets require "in general" faster powders to produce top velocity. IMR 4350 with a medium load and the 107SMK,2800fps) is more accurate than,2900fps).
If velocity is your aim use about 39 gr of 4895 or 43 gr of H380
these will yeild the most velocity in the lighter bullets. You probably will find that the IMR4350 will be the most accurate just off of max no craters or primer flattening. At least that has been my experience. A 75gr VMax at 3300-3400fps is a devestating load another that many swear by is the 58 and 65 gr VMax

Thanks for the reply .I agree i think the H 4350 is too slow .I found some good loads on line for Varget and some for RL 15.I bought the H4350 with the 87-95 grn bullets in mind but saw that the Max velocity for the 75 Vmax in the Hornady was with that load 46.7 grns of H4350 .Oh well live and learn guess i ruined some good brass.

In my 6mm Rem, I'm loading 49 grains of H4350 and pushing 75 grain VMaxes at an average of 3,670 fps. This load in my rifle has been the most accurate I've tried, and I've tried a bunch. A "bad" group is in the high .3's, and a "good" one will occasionally come in under .2". This has proven to be an extremely effective 600 yard pdog round, and it's what I reach for when the wind starts kicking.

I could get a tad,not much) more velocity, but with lot-to-lot burn rate variances and the wild extremes of temps encounterd on the plains of Colorado, I decided not to look a gift horse in the mouth.,I've encountered lot-to-lot burn rate variances as high as 7% with this powder, and in addition, I'm not completely at ease with Hodgdon's claims of "temp insensitivity).

From the velocities you've described from your .243 Win, your load, while safe, is probably getting toward the sane upper limit.

I loaded up some rounds to try with 40, 40.5 and 41 grns of Varget behind the 75 V max. I hope i don't run into pressure problems right out of the gate again. It is a bad feeling when your first load is pushing the limits and its the lightest powder charge you have with you at the range.I don't know if i had a fast batch of H 4350 or if i just grabbed a hot load to begin with 46.7 grns.
