.243 Larger bullets slower powders

I am looking to load some 88 Gr Burger Varmits as well as some 87 VLD's _ I plan to start with the 88's for a hunt in May then the 87 VLD's for next fall--If I were to choose to take this gun deer hunting.

I have been using Varget with good results but it seems to taper off as the bullets get large-- I am thinking H4831SC or IMR 4350 maybe even RL19 or RL22

Has anyone made this jump

I load 7828 with 87g Vmax/Interbond for my nephew's .243. He shoots the Vmax for practice/varmints and the Interbond for deer. 49.6g in the OCW load for his rifle.

IMR 4350 is my first choice when developing loads for the 243 even with bullets as light as 80 grains. I've been loading this cartridge since the early 70's and tried just about everything but I always come back to IMR 4350.

Try the Sierra 80 grain blitz bullet for varmints - with IMR4350 my Model 700 shoot under 1/2moa with this bullet.

The Sierra 100 grain ProHunter and Nosler 90 grain BT have worked well with 4350 and are good deer bullets. The 90 Nosler is very accurate and flat shooting. Shot a doe (lung shot) this year with it and it ran 10 yards and fell over.

The Sierra 85 BTHP is a good all around bullet - again with 4350.

Great cartridge in my opinion - I have three and love them!

In addition to the ones already mentioned, I've tried Hodgdon's H-100V (Hybrid). It meters well and, groups good and produces superb velocities.

Try H1000. It extends barrel life WAAAY out.
I use it with 107 SMK for long range BR so don't know loads for lighter bullets. But, 100gr bullets work for deer.

I used the H-100V with good sucess in my 7MM mag--It did meter well compared to the N-160 and others --I think I have paired it down but it will just take some shooting now--
