.243 / H4831sc Velocities & Powder Alternative

I am new to the .243 arena, I have been in the 6x47 arena(and others) for a few years now however.

I recently picked up a .243 running a 1/7.5" Lawton barrel and I have found DTAC's (un-coated) on top of 43.4 gr of H4831sc @2905 fps is my best accuracy node. Is anyone getting faster, accurate results from H4831sc/DTAC's on a similar setup or are you getting faster velocities from another powder? H1000 did not do much for me, roughly the same velocities with a lot of un-burnt powder coming out of the muzzle at charges up to 48 gr.

I useta run 47.2 gr RL-25 with molyed 115DTACs out of a .243Win Match chamber, 26" 1:7.5 Rock 5R.
3070fps in the warm summer months & plenty accurate...

RL26 is the velocity king with this round. Heard many say 7828 is excellent. The N160 I believe gets good results also.

RL26 makes stuff go fast .. I have even had some good accuracy with it..yea CCI BR2's
I had pushed a 115 VLD at 3,150 FPS out of a 6XC with it.

get some R#26, primer selection will pay big dividends.

Getting ready to try RL26 in a different chambering and your primer comments interest me very much. What have your finding been regarding primer selections with this powder?

I have Fed210M, CCI BR2 and Wolf LRM primers. I will be using the Wolf at the start for load development.

My buddy is running H1000 in his, his reported speed chronoed was 3020 fps, this is with a 105 grain bullet. His barrel is either 26" or 28". Maybe he will see this and confirm. I know he has a bit over 2000 rounds down the barrel, closer to 2400. He has told me there is a loss of speed, accuracy is still as good as it was. I see where raw speed is being given with RL26, I think I will give it a go also.

OK, I thought I look into this magical powder for my 6SLR. My go to load with 7828 was about 50-80 slower with my new 26" barrel than my other slr w 28".

I recently tried the new 7977 with a loss in speed and used more powder. It was crunching pretty bad at 47.5....no pressure signs, but just didnt feel like the case could take much more powder.

I tested RL26 from 45.5 up to 47.3. Wow, its fast with no pressure signs on my test. The crazy thing is I couldnt hear powder crunching, so it might be a denser powder and there seems to be room for more in my cases. I found great accuracy and a node right at 45.5. Another node around 46.5 - 47.3 but not as accurate. I didnt try any other seating depths or primers to see if it would tighten up. I saw 3090ish to 3275ish during this test. With our game that speed bucks the wind well enough to keep us "in the fur" at all our distances so it's hard not to wanna make it work.

Sorry if I hijacked the 243 part...but hopefully this info can be helpful.

Went to do more testing.

Changed bullets and brass....not so good this time....great speed, but erratic patterns. Going back to the first combo and going to do some seating depth testing.

Funny thing I ran both tests across the magnetospeed in bulk. With the added weight of the tool, The group that was formed by all the different loads being shot a the same point of aim was about a minute. Better than some individual load's groupings. Maybe the barrel needs a heavy tuner for this powder.
