243 AI reamer

I am planning on building a long range rifle with this chamber. I wanted to ask this group if they have any hints or suggestions I should specify when ordering a reamer. I plan on shooting 107 and 115g bullets and have a throater so can adjust to the bullet I choose. Also, are there any issues with respect to brass and FL resizing dies I should know about. If anyone has a reamer they want to sell I might be interested.
thanks in advance,

Some time ago, I designed a .243 AI reamer for a friend. We both agreed that he would be using Lapua brass, because of the quality, and so we made the chamber length, to the end of the case neck, a bit shorter than standard, after measuring a number of Lapua cases, to reduce the gap at the end of the neck after fire forming. We also worked backward from the FL sizing die, non- bushing style) by sizing some well used AI brass from a friend's rifle, and set up the neck diameter of our reamer to get the neck tension that we wanted. To do this, it had to be a tight neck design. The other areas that we paid close attention to were the shoulder diameter, making it only a half thou. larger than the sized case, and the base diameter which we set at a thou. over sized case. At the end, we ended up with a good match between brass chamber and FL die that produced very straight brass, and excellent accuracy, without the cost of a custom die. Dave Kiff, who owns Pacific Precision, does not charge extra for custom dimensions. The rifle is built about a sleeved Remington short action, and is very accurate, being reserved for the longest of shots in the varmint fields. Our latest project has been a close neck, no turn .204 Ruger reamer. This time we used a bushing die so that he could use a larger neck diameter and not have to turn. We matched the body diameters in the same way.

Just my opinion, but I think the very short neck of the 243AI really limits the potential of the cartridge. With a 6mmAI, you can set the throat up for 115's to seat near the neck/shoulder junction, and still touch the lands with the shorter bullets. If you want to touch the lands with short and long bullets in the 243AI, then the 115's will be WELL below the nk/sh junction, costing you much case capacity. My 6mmAI reamer has a .060 throat and will work with any bullet without seating bullets too deep, but in a little throating out will increase the case capacity for the long bullets. Just leave the throat at .060, and you will still have more capacity than a 243AI. Also, throat life may be a bit better with the 6mmAI.
