243 AI 40 VS 243 AI 30

well I wondering how a 243 AI 40 deg shoulder with a fast twist set up for 115 gr. verses a 243 AI 30 deg shoulder . I thought about the 6SLR but I would like more powder capacity.

what do you think of the 243 40 deg verses the 243 30 deg?

243AI (40) with an 8 twist 115 DTAC's using H-1000 is a good combo. I think you may need a faster twist for the other 115's. The 105 HyBreds love the 8 twist as well. I would go with the 40*. Ackley knew what he was doing....

Thanks stacy. I'm really leaning tward the 30 deg due to everything I have read. but i'm open to ideas.

P.O. Ackley yes he was quite a experimenter . I have his shooting and reloading books, great stuff.
I just feel it would be easer to form to the 30 deg shoulder over the 40 deg. and the 30 is well proven and enough capacity. But so is the 40 deg. it's good to hear the 40 is still going strong. dies are sure cheaper for the 40 deg.

Thank you joe . thanks for all the info you have giving me. but I have not been able to nail down a set of 6cm dies or a reamer print that is known to work with the redding dies. If you look I have a post running on the 6cm.

I believe the dies you are looking for are labeled Egolf Improved....

These are the 6 Competition Match dies.

Someone please correct my info, if incorrect.

I believe the 30' is called a Mashburn and the 40' is Ackley.

Redding and Dave Bruno sell the die.It is a full lenght bushing die. It is labeled .243 EGolf Improved.

I pulled the trigger on the 243 imp 30
got a set of dies coming and reamer ordered. I think it will work just fine.

I have 100 new Lapua cases and 500 115 VLD's just waiting. I will shoot the Lapua Brass.
Don't worry I have a plan.. it's really just like making a 220 Russian into a 6ppc. roll the donut onto the shoulder.
yes I will weight sort and neck turn. this time next year will be shoot n the 243 imp 30. well I hope to have it shooting in july .
