240 Cobra v 6XC

How do these two cartridges compare? I am more interested in performance than the cost of running one (that is dies, brass, etc). Does one really outshine the other.
Reason is; I have a set of dies (240 cobra that belonged to my father), 220 brass and a shot out Rem 700 VS in 220 Swift. I am thinking about going to a 6mm, I know a easy route would be simply go with a 243 or 6mm. But that would really be no fun for a handloader.
The gun would be 1st for targets (I have a range in driveable distance that goes to 1000yds) that said I have never shot pass 600yds and 2nd for hunting (coyotes mainly). I would like to shoot Berger VLDs or DTAC.
Outside of already having 240 dies, I have no preference.
Thanks
David

Is it this one?

I would say:" Go for it!" otherwise you'll never know...
I am quite conservative and I happen to like the Swift and the incredible strength of its case head. I sold mine before going the Wilson Arrow way and I still regret it. You already have the dies (a BIG help), the brass and the barrel (yep, you could have it nicely rebored and rerifled by http://www.cutrifle.com/index.html ) so the investment would be minimal. An 8" twist would allow you to use Berger VLD's with efficiency. Never heard anything wrong about that wildcat and it sure would be quite uncommon to own one...
I guess if you still have the dies and the idea of using them, your Dad is sending you a sign. Just try!
