22X47L Starting Loads-Help!!

Looking for starting loads/powders w/80 gr Amax. It has a Brux (1-7" twist rate, 22.5" length) in 22-6.5x47Lapua w/Lapua brass. Will loads be somewhat the same as 6-47L? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

No not similar to 6X47 L loads. I used .22/250 Rem loads and worked up from there. The .22X47 L case has slightly larger capacity than a .22/250 Rem, so you should be okay and may be able to increase the power charge just a bit. Vic

I use 37.5 grains of H-100V with the 75 grain A-Max with no problems in my rifle...
If you have that powder, start with 35.0 grains with the 80 grain bullet.......
H-4350 is also a good powder for the 22-6.5x47 Lapua....

Howdy !

FWIW -
My .22-35Rem wildcat has case capacity between that of .22-250 and .22-250AI.

Shot from a 24" 1-14 SS barrel, best loads under .224" cal 55gr bullets:
41.2gr WW760 Fed LR Magnum Match Hornady 55SX
41.6gr VV160 Fed LR Magnum Match Hornady 55"V-Max" = 3,690fps

Shot from a 28" 1-8 SS barrel, bet loads under .224" 75gr bullet:
40.5gr AA 3100 Fed LR Magnum Match Hornady 75"A-Max " = 3,500fps
40.5gr AA3100 Fed LR Match Hornady 75 "A-Max" = 3,420fps * Accuracy load

*** This was MY gun, MY loads *** ....... Y.R.M.V.

IMR 4350 shot better for me in the 1-14 under 60grainers, while the above powders listed for use w/ 55s worked; best with them.
VV560 just did not shoot all that well, w/ any bullet wt, and either twist/barrel length tried.

Other than the one "accuracy load " listed above, all other loads/powders I tried shot best w/ Fed LR Magnum Match.
I shot loads not listed, that performed best w/ CCI LR Magnum's. These slower powders did seem to favor the Magnum primers.

Be conservative w/ your starting point on powder charges. I recommend you start-out some 1gr lower in charge wt; than the point you ultimately think you'll end-up at.. and work you way upward in .1gr increments.

I DK if this helps you any ?!?

Best of luck in your endeavors !

Thanks for the info so far guys. Maybe I'm not listing this caliber right. It's a 6.5 X 47Lapua case necked down to 22 cal. Anyone else shooting this round that will chime in?

My 22x47 shoots 39.6 h4350 very well with a 80 grain JLK. Pretty mild load but velocity is 3390 out of a 26" tube. 41 grains of Ramshot hunter shoots well too.

EMLLYN,

I am pretty sure most of the posts are referring to the 6.5 x 47L necked down to 22 especially those that say the case capacity is very close to the 22-250. I shot this round as soon as the 47L brass was available and strangely enough I had great luck with Benchmark, I used some as I had a lot on hand for the first firing of the brass to fireform to the chamber. I had such great results with that so I used it under 80 g JLK's and had great results.

Thanks everyone!! I'm going to try some of these powder combinations out. I have some of the powders on hand so I will start there. Again, Thanks!
