.22tcm

pressure problems with some factory ammo . Nothing major just hard bold lift , sometimes require a mallet
Rear lug action designed for a 22 rf
Really short oal if want as a repeater . Single load is option .

Built a "20 MGM" (necked down 22 TCM to 20) Small and reloadable. Got reamer, dies and 22 TCM brass. Bout as far as I got.
Reamer was used by a couple others for a build. Not a lot of info but what they got was good. I single feed on purpose. No chasing brass and no feeding issues. With maybe 10 grains of powder, not too many issues to deal with.

I've wondered about the 22tcm for building a long range squirrel rifle but never seems to be any good talk on its accuracy. It would be great to here more about the 20 MGM but a quick search turned up nothing.

I am a big fan of the 17hm2 and 100yd accuracy but we have gone through shortages on ammo. Having something you can reload for has its merits in availability as well as the search for accuracy.

I have only shot it in 1911, but also see factory ammo high pressure issues like blow primers and sticking cases. Accuracy is poor as compared to the 9mm in the same pistol. Loud fireball is about the only thing cool.
Probably would be a fun project for a varmint rifle, but there are so many other cartridges that do the same or better, I’ve never had the urge to do it.

That is my own little cartridge made from 223 Lapua brass. I call it the 22 SmokinJoe, a Covid project. Getting 3325fps with SW SBR-SOCOM and 40gr bullets, no pressure and SD around 8fps. I'm very happy with the outcome of this project.
That's an awesome looking cartridge. I wish it was mainstream.

Would love to see some other folks try it. Down side is making brass, takes a good bit of effort. Tried using FB brass first but the neck/shoulder junction created a problem, also found that my first attempts using TCM FL die to form caused problems in the neck, so got Pbike form dies and used the cheaper and more available 223 brass and everything came together nicely, then it's just work.

Working on what my buddy and I are calling a 20 Banshee and getting closer to going bang. 22 TCM necked to 20, neck lengthened, and 40 degree shoulder. Been a challenge at every turn with a case this short. Just need to jump over the neck turning tool hurdle last as current expanders are much too long given their taper. Hope to be able to update you all with a month or 2. Shooting for an H110 or 300MP burn rate powder and 32 grain bullets.
2nd photo is next to a 223 for comparison…

That's a cutie. I considered doing mine in a 20cal vs 22 but had a lot of 22 bullets so went that way. Was afraid making mine shorter would result in some of the problems you are finding and also wanted it to end up long enough to be easy to get into and out of my custom action bolt guns. Please keep us posted on your progress.
