22rf chamber per Bill Calfee specs

Read an article by BC in an older Precision Shooting mag. He was tapering the chamber and changed the throat angle. Seemed to work via all the winners with his rifles. Has any rifle makers changed their chamber configs based on his results? If not, why? Do custom barrels on comp rifles use his reamer specs? Thanks. Ron

Bill Calfee does not currently recommend a tapered chamber. I dont think any of the bench rest smithes are using a tapered chamber. Throat angle or lead angle is another story. R Gorham built my rifle, He used a stright chamber with a 3 degree lead angle. BC likes a 2 degree lead.

Although possible, I think it's highly unlikely that the reamer used would contribute a huge amount to BC's overall success as a builder, many more things are required to build a successful rifle.

Was looking for a magic bullet. Guess BC's experiment(s) were not that good. He does other things, slugging, indexing, etc. that others prob also do. So much for buying a $300 rifle off the shelf that has some of those accuracy enhancing features. Thanks. Ron.

I am not much of a 22rf shooter. Started in ROTC way back, 1959 or so, shooting 4 position. All they had was some springfields or ?? that were about 4" too long for me. Had to shoot standing with stock over my shoulder. :-[ Guess me and BC (and most other country boys) share a lot in common with the old rem/marlin/mossbergs and ducks, etc. Anyway's, just wondering if there were any "killer" rifles out there that have adapted newer technology to improve accuracy. I see several low dollar in store with rather large barrels, but don't have a clue how they shoot. I do have a Savage Anchutz 10D that does pretty well with some ammo. The ejector keeps turning in the bolt head, think it needs some TLC. Ron.
