I had mentioned in another post that once I figured out what chambering to go with I’d post my final project. Well here it is. Just another LGP. This one might be my favorite thus far.
Back in 2014 I put my spin on an old benchrest favorite. The 22 PPC .100 short. Me wanting to do something different with it, I changed the shoulder angle from 30* to 35* and called it my own. I had the reamer made and a sizing die. The reamer cuts great but my FL size die wasn’t made properly and didnt size properly. I didn’t end up spending much time with this chambering and moved onto other projects.
Fast forward to recently, I decided to re visit this case. Ive always knew this chambering woukd shoot so i decided to give it another go. I’m still waiting on my die to be made but I did finally get my rifle together. Man did it turn out well!
I’ve always loved this color of green so much so i designed my logo around it. Alex Felso of Felso composits did a great job with the stock. Bat Machine actions are always nice and a Bartlein 22cal 13.5 twist seemed a perfect fit for this little 22cal chambering.
Making the brass for this little guy is the only downside. Just requires a bit of time and patience.
Once my die gets here I’ll post some results.

That is a great looking rig for sure!

I have a Neil Jones Waldog die and a few week ago ordered bushings for that die with 40* shoulders. The reamer will be along shortly. You are way ahead of me on your project, I’ll be watching to see what you learn. Thanks so much for posting.

Nice looking rifle with great components! Hope it shoots tiny for ya! Keep us posted. Curious if it’s a light or Heavy.

hreat question. The Felso composite stocks are on the heavy side. This rifle is 13 pounds 8 ounces with this crappy sightron 45x. The barrel is 26.5 “ long so I might remove some off the muzzle and install a better scope. The Sightron are solid but their glass could be better.

I built a 22 .100 short PPC with a 40* in 2018. It had a 15 twist Krieger and it shot well. At the time I had just started making my own 51 gr flatbase with both 7 and 8 ogive. LT32, T8208, and 133 were the powders I have in my notes. Speeds were right at 3500. For sizing, I sent some twice fired cases to Whidden and they built me one of their bushing dies. For a seater I chucked up a Wilson 22PPC die in the lathe, reamed it for the shoulder and cut 0.100 off of the base.
I just drifted off to other projects as well.
Might be time to revisit this project.

This is great, thanks for reviving this thread Lee.

I'm starting a build with a 22 PPC -.100 as well. Got most of the components via an estate sale.

Awaiting a 22 expander so I can neck turn the brass to 0.008" a .243 neck isn't ideal but the barrel was cheap so I'm just making a few pieces of brass before I get carried away. If it shoots lights out I'll make a few more pieces..if the barrel doesn't shoot I guess I'll be calling Lee Gardner precision to get me a new one spun up :)

Looking forward to seeing each of your results.

I have a 22x0.100 ppc short barrel on one of my rail tops. It is a 15 twist Krieger chambered for the 30* version and 26.5" long. I took it out yesterday and did a little bit of a work up using V133, LT32 and LT31. Was not disappointed.
The only data that I could find in my notes was for LT31. The first load tried showed pure vertical. Velocity was right at 3500. Going in steps of 0.002" at a time, I settled at 0.008" back from jam. Using this seating depth as a starting point, I was able to get 4 of the 5 different bullets to group nicely into single hole. With a little powder increase, speeds were now 3600 with the 51/52 gr bullets. Next I tried LT32. With no other change other than getting the speed up to matching velocity, 3 shot group was a dot with the bottom of the hole egged out. Backed up with a 5 shot group.
Using the same routine I switched to 133 and received the same results. 3 shot dot backed up by a 5 shot dot. Combinations of these 3 powders and 4 different bullets all show promise.
As a side note, When loading up to go to the range I was so focused on making sure I had all of my supplies for shooting the 22 I forgot my 6mm bullets for the other top. My original intent was to check out the 6mm for an upcoming match and maybe have time for the 22. Now I have to decide which one to go with.......

Any version of the .22 Waldog is in a league of it's own when it comes to pure accuracy! At least mine was and will be again.

So I did a little online research and I'm gonna go with 23 grains of N130 to fireform my first few pieces of brass with some Hornady 53 grain HPs. That sound about right? It's hot as hells living room here right now so I reduced the load a bit to factor that in.

I use 24.2 gr of LT-30 to fireform my WalDog brass.
I will look at my N-130 load book in a bit.

I have LT 30 and LT 32 as well. I have gobs of LT 32 if you have a starting load for that one. I just couldn't find anything online for that powder.

Although NOT fireform info........

LT-32 25.6 gr ( ~3510 FPS) is one of my favorite loads in my WalDog.
Lapua brass of course.

Hope this helps
