.22LR CZ-USA Target Rifle w/Heavy Barrel

Shynloco

You can lead a horse to water, but ........
Do any of you folks know if CZ-USA produces a .22LR Target Rifle with a Heavy Barrel and what the model number is? Thx

there is a 452 thumbhole varmint (Boyds stock) with heavier barrel, and 452 varmint walnut stock with heavier barrel.

Hi,

You may want to check Benchrest Central and 24 hour Campfire. In the past I've seen numerous there that fit your requirements.

CZ 452 Varmint has a heavy barrel, but the 453 has the trigger you want. Pre-2009 have threaded barrels, 2010 models have pinned barrels and new model 455 (not what you'd want for a bench gun).

I have an old Model 3 Brno (ZKM-455) (Brno is CZ predecessor) that has heavy barrel and adjustable trigger.

RimFire Central is the place to hook up with CZ nuts

+1 on rimfire central

if you want a 452 model you better not drag your feet they are being replaced with the 455 model.

i have a 452 that i just put a rifle basics trigger in. easy install and feels good.(only thing it's silver) it adjusts from 9 oz to 2 lbs.

if you want a regular trigger go with the 452 if you want a set trigger go 453. either way you'll have the same money invested.

It depends on what you call a heavy barrel. The Varmint model is the heaviest barrel. It tappers down a bit though and is hardly a "heavy" barrel. If you are looking for something similar to the flood of .920" bull barrels for the 10-22, you are out of luck. The best bet would be to buy an American 452 and rebarrel and potentially restock the rifle as well. Not cheap by any means, but the best bet. The Varmint only has one lug in the action and then one attached to the barrel. The American has two on the action and none on the barrel. The American also uses 3/8" dovetails rather than the 11mm dovetail mount of the Varmint. For a donor action, the American is a step up on the Varmint.

If you don't want to go custom, look around for older used BRNO rifles. There were many made as match rifles back then that seem to be a much more appropriate fit for what you are looking for. What CZ makes today is much more oriented towards field type rifles rather than match rifles.
