22br

given the 203b powder what is starting loads for it and what is velocity can one expect.am shooting 50 to 55 grain bullets.it was said that a record group was shot back in the 70s by jim stickle of Remington.

30 grains will be safe. 2900-3000 expected.

Not sure why anyone would shoot a 22BR slower than a .222 or .223, and use more powder to do it. Norma 203-B is much too slow for light bullets in a BR case. A 22BR will easily shoot a 52-53gr match bullet at 3600-3800 fps, and can go a bit higher if you lean on it, but it requires the proper (faster) powder.

The Berger reloading manual doesn't have 203B powder. For the 50 gr bullet it list 11 powders.
The starting loads 27-29.5 gr for the various powders and about 3250 fps.
Max loads 29 to about 32 gr of powder (FPS 3512-3666).
Win 748 and BL-C (2) the highest fps.

Sounds good. I have a 6BR and I have shot 58Vmax at 3625 no pressure. You should be able to get over 3700 fps? 8208 and H322 give me higher fps than Re-15.

I like 322 or 335, 322 being just a bit better! I have some 2230-C Data powder that just wasn’t that accurate. I like 52 and 53 gr A-max bullets running in the 3,700 fps range in a 28” barrel, but most any 50 to 55 gr bullets shoot very good too. My other one I haven’t done much work with before I got interested in something else and took the barrel off and built something else.

Benchmark and IMR3031 are pretty solid with 50ish gn bullets. You're looking at 3700-3800fps with reasonable pressures.

EDIT: start around 27gns and work up.

I shot 30.5g of R#15 with 50g Nosler ballistic tips at 3800, bug holes abound, zero freebore reamer, Rem 7 1/2's.

AA2520 will give you much better barrel life than Norma 203b and R#15, Check the heat index of R#15 and Varget...NOT GOOD in this tiny hole!
