22BR?

I've recently become interested in rebarreling an old Savage 110FP in 308W to the 22BR after seeing a guy shoot fantastic groups at 200 yds last weekend. I have a couple of questions for the experts here.
First, do the two calibers share the same bolt face or will I need to change the face of the 308 bolt?

Second, what is an estimate of barrel life? Will it burn out after 1500 rounds or can I expect a decent round count before the throat is gone?

Third, What barrel length and twist rate? I wouldn't be shooting anything lighter than a 52 gn or heavier than the 69 SMK's would the 1/9 be optimal?

Am I crazy for even considering this idea?

Thanks for the input

1. Same boltface as a .308.
2. Barrel life depends on your accuracy expectations. Longer than a .22-250 and less than a .223 is the general answer. I wouldn't expect more than 1000 rounds of gilt-edged accuracy, but it should shoot under 0.5 MOA for at least twice that long if you don't overheat the barrel.
3. I don't like to use "compromise" twists and freebores. There are plenty of custom bullets (essential for peak accuracy) in the 52gr range, for which a 1-14 twist is appropriate. Freebore about 0.030-0.040". If you plan to do a lot of shooting past 300 yards you may want a longer freebore and tighter twist.
4. You're not crazy. My 22BR is my go-to coyote calling rifle. Spare barrel waiting if I ever burn this Krieger out. Nothing would make me happier than shooting enough coyotes to wear out a barrel. :)

I did that. Bought a Pack Not 1:7 twist, 26". I wanted to shoot 90's. It shoots Nosler CC 80 gr. Sub 1/2" at 350 yards. A 1:9 will shoot anything up to 80 gr. with no problems. Round count is determined by how you use it.

Have fun!
