22br case length

Have a gunsmith do a cerosafe cast of your chamber. That way you can find out whether you have a standard or a short chamber.

1.520 / trim 1.510

sinclair sells a tool to measure case length in your chamber

may not be a bad idea dmic said if you bought 2nd hand

The 1.520/trim 1.510 is the Remingtom brass length. There's no actual 22BR length for the Lapua/Norma brass that I know of?
If you use necked down Lapua/Norma brass, you'll probably come out close to the 6BR length.
1.560 max and trim length at 1.555.
So you end up setting your brass length to where you want it.
My 22BR chambers have a "actual length" of 1.585 so at the max length of 1.560, the Lapua/Norma brass has a long way to go before I have to start thinking about trimming. Find out your actual chamber length and set your case length where "you" want it.

good point on the resizing NCM..
i was only going by the diagram.. didn't mention Rem.

i haven't gotten into 22Br 'Yet'... thats next after 6/47l gets fin... ;)

I have an older style reamer for a .22BR that requires me to trim .060 off the neck length to fit the chamber. This is how the first reamers were set up. You should really do a chamber cast just to be safe. Hope this helps. Paul.

Paul: If it's an "older chamber" it must be cut to the Remington specs. That's where most folks run into problems. You can't use Lapua/Norma brass without trimming the necks down. :(
Most of the newer chambers are to Lapua specs. Load them up and go shooting. ;D
Just a shame to cut new Lapua brass to fit your chamber but a guy has to do what has to be done. ;)
As far as the Sinclair chamber length plugs? Best way to go. ;D I've got them for every caliber I shoot. I know the "actual chamber length" on all my rigs. That way I know ahead of time if and when I need to trim and that doesn't happen very often. Shoulder bumping and neck sizing with bushings lets me run my brass for a long time before I have to think about triming. Throw in a body size once in a while as needed. 20+ firings and still going strong. And I might add, my loads are on the mild side. Makes my brass last longer. You don't have to be fast to be accurate. 8)

Trim length is 1.510 for my chamber. When I chambered my last barrel I just ran the reamer in an extra .060 and fireform the brass like a Dasher. IE - false shoulder, and it works fine. A little more case capacity, velocity, and no trimming. Hope this helps. Paul 8).

As far as the Sinclair chamber length plugs go, be aware that they do not work with a tight-neck chamber. It says that in the directions.

It's easy to make one smaller diameter.
