22arc powders

What powders are you guys running for heavier bullets? the 22 arc, 22 Grendel, 22ppc, I think they are all close enough to use the same powders…. Obviously not the same charge wt.
any one using Vihta Vuori?

VV N135 and N540 looks good for bullets 75gr and heavier. Perhaps better than N133.

Caveat - this has been recommended to me. I plan to work this in to future load testing for heavy bullets in 223AI and 6ARC.

Have any experience with those powders?

I have used N140 and N540 under 75gr HDY BTHP, Amax, ELD, and Berger VLDs in the past and had excellent results. As I recall from my Service Rifle, N140 was a little more accurate, but N540 gave me more speed (+2900 fps), and the speed was more beneficial at 600 yds than the slight edge in accuracy. I haven't shot 75s much in my bolt gun, but I loaded up the last of my 75gr Amax bullets with N540 and during load development I got a 5 shot group that measured roughly 1" at 400 yds.

If I were loading for any of those cartridges with 75gr or heavier, I'd definitely look into N140, N540, N150, and N550. Their published load data shows N140 and N150 producing VERY similar velocities across most bullet weights, and the same for N540 and N550, with the 500 series producing roughly 100 fps higher velocities across the board.

I have been using n140 and n540 for 80.5-85.5's in 22 arc. RL15.5 looks good too, but can be tough to source. I tried H4350, XBR, Staball Match, and Varget and narrowed down to the n140 & 540 for my loads. They seemed to produce the best combo of speed and accuracy for me.

I can’t seem to find much on these powders for start and max loads, any idea where I should look?

What powder? I can share my data. Still not much out there.

I think I have most of mine in my 22 arc post.
I’m between trying h4350, which I already have, and picking up some 540…. Seem to be most common I see guys having luck with… a lot of loading manuals show lever revolution but I know nothing about this powder ie temp sensitive or not..

H4350 does ok, but n540 does better for velocity.

Also think a bolt gun will be much different?
You can run higher pressure in bolt guns, but the velocity will still be lower with the H4350. It is also hard to fit much more in the case with H4350.

I’m sure you can get the 4350 to shoot just as good, but can get same velocity with lower pressure from the n540.

Yea, that’s what I was reading, a few other spots guys said that they got 4350 to shoot good… but 540 shot as good of not a little better with less pressure and non compressed loads… which seems better on everything to me…
