.224 Valkyrie Barrel Suggestions?

I am building a .224 Valkyrie on an AR platform. I am going with a 6.5T. What would you guys suggest for optimal barrel length?

I'm considering a company I have never used before but the reviews seem to be overwhelmingly good. Does any one have experience with barrels from Bison Armory?

I'm trying to avoid waiting several months for a barrel.

What are your thoughts?

I built 3 224Vs so far and all have a 22" 1/8"T, 5r bbl on them. Since these are 100% coyote/predator rigs for ranchers I decided a 22" would be right for carrying in their trucks using collapsible stocks. I used BCA barrels from Midsouth as they had them in stock. Not a top line barrel, but they are doing the job.

I would look at a Criterion. They are easily available, consistently good quality, and come in useful profiles and lengths. In this case they make an 18" and 22" - pick your flavor.

If it was a build I wanted to succeed and keep around, I would go with proven quality. If it's a passing thing/experiment I might try something unknown. I don't have any experience with the Valkyrie, but I do know Dtech has been very helpful to me when purchasing parts and he stands behind what he sells. I just looked and a Shilen from him headspaced to your bolt isn't too bad.

22" barrel

Order a barrel from JP and be patient. Better yet, order the entire upper/rifle from them.

Alot of people seem to think this round is pointless, it " looks" like it would be quite accurate esp in a bolt gun. I dont wanna steal this post, so my suggestion would be a 20-22"

Just finished this rig for a customer, 22" 1:6.5 twist 3 groove, solid 1/2 MOA gun with the Hornady 88 ELD factory ammo

I just installed a 24" Faxon Firearms 1:6.5 twist 5R barrel.

I have a 20 inch on a AR and a 18 inch on a bolt rifle, both shoot very well. So take your pick of what you think would feel good for your intended purpose. But I would suggest go with at least a 1/7 twist, so when you shoot the heavier bullets they work.

I believe Seekins Precision makes an upper for the .224 Valkyrie. Another option.
