224 Predator

I'm looking for a reamer spec or something distinguishing the difference if any from 224 predator vs 22 grendel. I called hornady because they sold dies for ar performance I believe, but they weren't any help. From what I can see the only real difference is the amount of freebore maybe?

The 22 Grendel and the 22 ARC are the same. I've been shooting a 22 LBC/22 Grendel since 2010s.

I use 6.5 Redding Type S FL bushing die to load mine or buy the Hornady AEC dies. PT&G can get your reamer to you with a phone call

In the case of the grendel and arc they are the almost identical minus the freebore on the arc is 131 thousands and I belive the grendel is 91 thousands. I'm having a rifle chambered and they Smith is only able to get a 22 grendel reamer but I want it engraved 224 predator.
The case specs are the same from the 22lbc, 22ar, 22 BGW, 224 predator, 22 grendel, but they possibly all have different freebore. My Smith wants some type of info stating they are the same before he felt comfortable engraving it differently than the reamer says "22 Grendel"

PT&G has a myriad of reamer variations on freebore. I always talk to Dave on my custom stuff. They might actually have what you want on the shelf but a wait might be in the future.

Reminds me of a restaurant I knew of, you can order whatever you want,
but you probably won't get it......:p

I've worked on several wildcats with barrel companies and if you want to change specs on freebore and can't regrind your original it always feels like an eternity for the new one to show up. One we did took us through four reamers but it was sure worth it. I could get a custom barrel made in five days but getting that chamber was the anxiety producer.

Anyone shooting Alpha brass have a loaded neck diameter measurement?

Also does anyone with a chamber made with 4D's 22 grendel reamer have to turn necks??

I bought a 22 Grinch reamer from PTG a couple of years ago, and got it with a neck dia of .254". When necking Starline 6.5 Grendel brass down in two steps, I thought it needed at least a clean-up pass with the neck turning tool. But since I bought some 22 ARC brass from Starline, turning isn't needed. All I have to do is dip necks in a small tub full of ceramic beads with moly powder, run them over a carbide expander mandrel, touch the case mouths with a carbide burr made for seating VLDs, do a light cut with the flash hole uniforming cutter, and load them.
