223 with 90g and leverevolution

hi

was wondering if anyone was using this powder in a 223 shooting the 90grain vlds?
looking for so starter loads.also have some vv550 any info would help.

The powders to use are either N550 or RL15.

I have been shooting 90vld bergers out of my northern competition upper for service rifle competition. My gun likes 24.5gr of RL-15 with a Lapua case, cci-br4 primer. I believe the gun has a Wylde chamber with about 2500 rounds fired.

Varget, RL15, N150 is what I have tried and had the best results with Varget and N150.

I shot out a couple of Pac Nor 6.5 twist AR barrels out using JLK 90 gr bullet at 600 yards using V540.

i think ramshot tac is a little too fast of a powder to shoot the 90s. another good choice would be aa2520

Varget and R-15 only so far out of a 1-7", 28" bolt gun.....both show good results but it is throated really long.

Ramshot Tac is basically on par as burn rate as aa2520. I have been using this powder exclusively for over 2 years with great results.

what type of fps, are you getting with rl15?is the es close with this powder?

tac vs aa2520 in "my" ar-15. low velocity with tac before excess pressure. aa2520, had very nice velocity with round primers. i tried running my carrier weight with tac to get closer to the aa2520 velocities, but did not want to push it. aa2520 used about 1 full grain more powder to get the velocity. i am running 77 grainers over 2800 fps with aa2520, and could only get about 2730 comfortably with tac.

I have been shooting the leverolution powder and 90gr Berger VLD's for a couple of months now.

so far, it has provided great velocity at moderate pressures and v bull accuracy.

I do most of my posting on Canadiangunnutz where I go by Mystic Precision.

Look in the precision forum for a very large post on this topic.

I am very excited about the possibilities this powder offers to the 223.

Testing at 300m to 900+yds have been restricted due to the winter but the times I have gone out, the results have been excellent.

Vertical dispersion has been very low and temp stability over a 15C range has been excellent. Now to learn its quirks Jerry

Shilen SS Select Match 7 twist 28" finished

In the cold I was getting 2875fps.

The drops I have now (approx 12C) indicate that I am going a bit faster.

I will have to test them again when I get some time.
